Hi there my Friends at HairDesignerTV, fellow stylists and colorist.

I am thrilled to share with you a new cut FEATURED ON HAIRDESIGNERTV (in short haircut Library). This cute cut (Melodi a 20’s style Inspired By the Fashion she is wearing from Malan Breton) The cut is based on a classic graduation. WHEN VIV WAS 20
I remember when I saw my first demonstration of a Graduated bob, I was an assistant at Vidal Sassoon’s in London. Darrel Hardy the Artistic director demonstrated in total silence and laser focus, how to cut a classic graduated bob. We all watched this 2 hour demonstration mesmerized. I remember the time flew by as I studied every detail. How things have changed!! People get bored today after 1 minute video.
FUNNY AND WOW
On a side note; I heard in a recent ‘Masters’ interview by Winn Claybaugh, and guest Dr Amen (NY times best seller “Change your Brain change your life” ). Who stated an alarming fact! That a Gold fish has the attention of 9 seconds and todays average human attention span of 8 seconds!
I can’t believe a gold fish beat us!
VIV’S STRUGGLE, DO I QUIT OR STICK?
Any way back to my early days of learning a classic graduation. I struggled, and you got it, I struggled. I failed so many time that I almost gave up. You may be asking is it so difficult? Yes a classic graduation is not easy to do, but worth the learn, as it withstands the passage of time.

4 BIG LEARNS THAT CHANGED MY WORLD
When I think back to my early challenges I now know why I struggled.
I could not see the shape, I was so focused on the line and connecting each section that I missed the big picture, the more I struggled the closer I buried myself. Can you relate to this?
THE BIG 4
1. Stop!!!! look at the shape, not just the detail.
2. Use your mirror. It’s a vital tool, to see the big picture.
3. Stand in the correct place, you cannot see an angle if too close or behind the line.
4. Visualize your shape before you pick up the scissors, know where the length is going to sit and the focal points. (this is your map)
In my new video on HairDesignerTV. I discuss these points in addition explain the cut. Please check out the Fundamentals in cutting for additional tips.
