Based on The 21 Irrefutable laws of leadership –  A book by NY Times Best seller John Maxwell.

Hi there my friends, I am amazed at how the digital world has impacted my hairdressing career and the way I run my business.   As I sat on the plane last night deep in my computer world, I was vaguely  aware of the airplane bouncing around in the sky while the pilot was  trying to avoid thunder and lightening storms.  My traveling office and creative platform is my Mac Book Pro, a very powerful machine. I edit still images, work new movie ideas,  Step by step technical’s, business and so much more.  So while the storm was raging outside the plane, there was one raging on my desk top my powerful computer said “That’s it, enough, I”m full!  YES I had pushed my computer too far and it crashed.  My achiever had gone to over achiever! So I spent the next 8 hours removing and cleaning up content (exporting to 2 external drives or brains) going back over years of information.

That’s when it hit me, WOW I have been working so hard, look at what I have done over these years. But  sadly I never took the time to celebrate the victories, it was always “Ok, now lets get on with the next project”.

What I realize is that we are all chasing something, more money, larger clientele, bigger house, next man! etc. But what about slowing down to recognize the victories along the way?  Ok so I am now talking to myself, as this is a lesson for me!

This is a wonderful law lets apply it today and now lets dig a little deeper into the Law of Victory

When I did this shoot in Paris, it was a true challenge, you would think it was so glamorous?   No stressful! You think a moving client is a challenge try doing hair  in a location vehicle, dealing with traffic, parking issues and the police saying move on in French!  Holding onto your equipment as you turn down another narrow road!  Communication issues yes, I was terrible at French at school and nothing has changed!

We were challenged by the weather  as it was rainy day in Paris. As the leader I had to apply all of the above principles to have victory.

(See video below and our victory – Big thank you to my amazing team)

This is a mindset that says losing is not an option, winning is mandatory!

Are you surrounded with the right team players?

As you know the 21 laws of leadership is a course on line at For each law I had very special guests sharing their practical experiences and wisdom.

During the Law of Victory my special guest was Winn Claybaugh the Dean and Founder of the Paul Mitchell School group, which as been one of the most successful and faster growing franchises in our business.  Winn is a man of courage and vision and he also reminded me of the importance to celebrate every day a victory and then set a new goal.

Lets look at these important points for being a leader and person of influence.

  • Leadership is responsible
  • Losing is unacceptable
  • Passion is unquenchable
  • Creativity is essential
  • Quitting is unthinkable
  • Commitment is unquestionable
